Refik Anadol Experiments with OpenAI’s DALL-E 2

Refik Anadol is out there always exploring new tools and ways to realize his AI Art projects. So now with the arrival of the newest DALL-E 2 (DALL·E 2), Refik Anadol broaden his arsenal!

He announced that he is working with this new version of the “AI Artist” to create yet another illusional NFT data art project called Rumi Dreams on Twitter. He also shared a couple of images taken from this project during development which have a very Aladdiny essence.

Word “Rumi” stands for Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi (Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî) who was a Persian poet and a Sufi mystic. Rumi mostly speaks of love and God in his poetries. He also sees music, dance and poetry as a means to reach God. We clearly see from the shots shared, Refik Anadol reflects this way of thinking in his new artwork Rumi Dreams.

What is DALL-E 2?

The tool Refik Anadol uses for this project, DALL-E 2 is the newest, updated version of the DALL-E. This tool is a “neural network that creates images from text captions for a wide range of concepts expressible in natural language“. It is created by the AI research and deployment company called OpenAI.

With this new toy of theirs, especially new media artists will be able to produce more creative works and experiment with new forms of art. But thanks to the power of the DALL-E 2 AI art creator, even uneducated hands will be able to generate complete art pieces.
